About me
Hello! My name is Harrison Prudames MCSP. I am a Chartered Physiotherapist who trained at the University of Huddersfield and achieved a BSc Honours degree. During my time at the University, I have gained a deep theoretical knowledge of a multitude of musculoskeletal, cardio- respiratory and neurological conditions.
Through my childhood and adolescent years, I trained at Leeds Gymmastics club and performed as a National British Gymnast; now I coach gymnastics to children of all abilities aged 4- 16 at Pennine Gymnastics Club. As I have been involved in a highly physical performance sport for over 15 years, I have excellent knowledge of exercise prescription, alongside suitable and individual progressions and regressions, so my training at the University has only strengthened this further.
I have performed practically throughout a vast array of settings during my time, such as OCC- HEALTH Dpt., Rheumatology MSK OPD, Med Elderly Wards, Cardio- Respiratory Wards and the Acute Stroke Rehabilitation Unit, all within Mid Yorks hospitals. As these departments require huge emphasis on effective communication within the inter and multi- disciplinary team, this is a skill that I have transferred and adapted into my delivery of health care itself, which allows for my care to be holistic and patient centred. I have also practiced within the Leeds and Cleckheaton community treating elderly patients with mild musculoskeletal conditions in need of exercise programmes and mobility aids. Lastly, practicing, as well as volunteering at Wakefield Trinity Rugby Club gave me an insight into physiotherapy in sport and on pitch line. This tested my justification skills to provide the most beneficial treatment modaility for each player on a daily basis.
I had my greatest achievement when I was involved within the "THRIVE" research project in my final year of study at the University. The project required a collaborative approach to healthcare delivery with fellow physiotherapy and occupational therapy students, as well as the advanced lectures of each profession taking part. The research project was incentivised due to the COVID-19 pandemic and entailed students to undertake intensive preliminary training to be able to provide health coaching, anxiety management strategies and SMART goal setting to all patients, all of which are non- traditional of standard physiotherapy training. This has developed my scope of practice and enhanced my viewpoint that all patients are real people and should not be regarded as a sum of their presenting conditions. Furthermore, all consultations were via scheduled zoom meetings, which is a brand- new way of delivering health care, and due to us living in the digital era and a world revolving around technology, I have first- hand experience and confidence virtually treating patients, if this is the way of the future.
Now I am currently offering Face2Face as well as virtual sessions, over Skype, to assess and treat all your personal healthcare needs. By using my sporting and academic success, I am able to provide a unique and varied approach to physiotherapy, which allows for me to share up to date knowledge with my patients/ clients, resulting in high levels of care, compassion and understanding.
